Next-Day Saddle Stitched Booklets

Programmes for a Saturday concert, an order of service, a brochure the sales team wants on the stand: saddle stitched booklets ordered by 2.30pm Mon–Fri are folded and stitched the same afternoon and delivered the next working day anywhere on the UK mainland. Orders after the cut-off, or placed at a weekend or on a bank holiday, go to press on the next working day and arrive the working day after; the dates above are calculated live.

This is the classic folded booklet, stapled through the spine, in 8 to 64 pages and always in multiples of four. It is printed double sided as standard in A4, A5 or a custom size, on 100gsm to 200gsm silk or uncoated stock. Quantities start at one copy and run to 250, with a custom figure available. Upload a single print-ready PDF with 3 mm bleed; this product is not available in the online designer.

The next-day rule

Next-day delivery needs your order in, and your artwork approved, by 2.30pm Mon–Fri for delivery the next working day. Production is scheduled from your approval, not from the time you order, so orders placed or artwork approved after that, or at weekends and bank holidays, are dispatched on the next working day and arrive the working day after. Every order gets a free artwork proof within the hour; changes to the artwork itself are a priced service per file, back within the hour too.

Missed the 2.30pm cutoff but still need it on the next working day (that is tomorrow when you order Monday to Thursday)? Choose Tomorrow Delivery at checkout in London: priority production first thing on the next working day and a tracked courier the same day, priced like same-day.

What counts

  • Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding England and Wales bank holidays; the print room is in London.
  • Next-day delivery covers the UK mainland; Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland rates and timings are shown at checkout.
  • Print-ready artwork (PDF, 3 mm bleed) or a finished online design must be with us by the cut-off, because production starts as soon as you pay.
  • Not in a hurry? Standard delivery is free to UK mainland addresses on orders over £25 and takes 3-5 working days.

Next-day saddle stitched booklets FAQs

Why does the page count have to be a multiple of four?

Each sheet is folded in half and stitched through the fold, which gives four printed pages per sheet. So the booklet can be 8, 12, 16 and so on up to 64 pages. If your document is 14 pages, add two: a blank inside the back cover, or notes pages, or a full-page image. We cannot bind an odd count and it is the most common reason a booklet file has to go back to the customer.

Which paper should I use for a programme or brochure?

The list on this page runs from 100gsm to 200gsm. 130gsm or 150gsm silk is the usual choice for a programme with photographs; 120gsm or 160gsm uncoated reads well for text-led newsletters and orders of service. Lighter sheets fold and stitch more cleanly as the page count rises, so keep 200gsm for short booklets.

Should I supply spreads or single pages?

Single pages, in reading order, one PDF, each page at the finished size with 3 mm bleed. We impose the pages so that they fall correctly once the sheets are folded and nested; sending printer spreads means we have to undo that work first. Count the pages in the exported file before uploading, and check that the total is a multiple of four.

Is one copy enough to order, or is there a minimum run?

One copy is fine. The quantity options are 1, 10, 25, 50, 150, 200 and 250, plus a custom figure, so a single proof copy of a brochure for tomorrow's meeting or 250 programmes for a hall are both ordered the same way. Every booklet in the order shares one page size, one page count and one stock.

Does choosing next-day delivery change the price of the booklets themselves?

No. The per-copy price is the one the configurator shows for your size, pages, stock and quantity, whichever delivery you pick. Next working day delivery is added at checkout and priced for the address you enter. If the booklets are for an event a week or more away, standard delivery to a UK mainland address is free on orders over £25 (£2.95 below that) and takes 3-5 working days.

The event is on Saturday. When do I need to order?

Before 2.30pm on the Thursday, so the booklets are printed on Thursday and delivered on the Friday. An order placed on Friday before the cut-off is delivered on the Monday, because we deliver on working days only, and a Friday order after the cut-off prints on Monday and arrives on Tuesday. Bank holidays push each step on by a day, and the page reflects that automatically.
