Next-Day Comb Bound Booklets
Training starts in the morning and the manual is not printed yet. Order comb bound booklets by 2.30pm Mon–Fri and we print, punch and bind them the same afternoon, with delivery the next working day anywhere on the UK mainland. An order placed after the cut-off, or over a weekend or bank holiday, is printed on the next working day and arrives the working day after that; this page shows the actual dates for the moment you are reading it.
Comb binding takes 10 to 300 pages, a plastic comb sized to the thickness of the document, and opens flat on a desk so people can read while they work. Choose A4, A5 or a custom page size, single or double sided printing, and any of the 100gsm to 250gsm silk and uncoated stocks listed here. Quantities run from one copy to 150 or a custom figure. Artwork is upload only: one print-ready PDF at the finished size.

The next-day rule
Next-day delivery needs your order in, and your artwork approved, by 2.30pm Mon–Fri for delivery the next working day. Production is scheduled from your approval, not from the time you order, so orders placed or artwork approved after that, or at weekends and bank holidays, are dispatched on the next working day and arrive the working day after. Every order gets a free artwork proof within the hour; changes to the artwork itself are a priced service per file, back within the hour too.
Missed the 2.30pm cutoff but still need it on the next working day (that is tomorrow when you order Monday to Thursday)? Choose Tomorrow Delivery at checkout in London: priority production first thing on the next working day and a tracked courier the same day, priced like same-day.
What counts
- Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding England and Wales bank holidays; the print room is in London.
- Next-day delivery covers the UK mainland; Highlands, Islands and Northern Ireland rates and timings are shown at checkout.
- Print-ready artwork (PDF, 3 mm bleed) or a finished online design must be with us by the cut-off, because production starts as soon as you pay.
- Not in a hurry? Standard delivery is free to UK mainland addresses on orders over £25 and takes 3-5 working days.
Next-day comb bound booklets FAQs
Will a 300-page manual really be bound and delivered by the next working day?
Yes, provided it is ordered and paid before 2.30pm Mon–Fri. Comb binding accepts anything from 10 to 300 pages, and a thicker document simply takes a larger comb. Because the comb is threaded through punched holes rather than stitched through a fold, the count does not have to be a multiple of four, so a 47-page procedure document binds as it is with no blank pages added.
Can pages be swapped after the manual has been delivered?
They can. A plastic comb opens again on an ordinary office comb binder, so an updated section can be dropped in and the comb closed without reprinting the rest. That is the reason comb binding tends to be chosen for handbooks and policy packs that are revised every few months, where wire binding would be permanent.
Where do the punched holes sit, and how much margin do I need to leave?
A row of rectangular holes runs down the binding edge, the left side of a portrait document. Keep text, tables and page numbers clear of that edge so nothing sits under the comb; a generous inner margin in your page layout is all it takes. Supply the file as single pages in reading order with 3 mm bleed at the finished size, not as spreads.
Which stock works best for a manual people will write in?
Uncoated. The 100gsm, 120gsm and 160gsm uncoated sheets take pen and highlighter cleanly, which matters for course notes and workbooks. If the document is mostly diagrams or product photographs, 130gsm or 150gsm silk gives crisper images. The heavier 200gsm and 250gsm options are also available if you want a sturdier sheet throughout a short document.
My course starts at nine tomorrow. Will the manuals arrive in time?
They are delivered on the next working day, but not at a fixed hour, so a session that begins first thing is cutting it fine. If the start is early, order a day sooner so the box is in the building the afternoon before. For a Monday morning course the order needs to be in before 2.30pm on the Friday, with the PDF attached, to arrive on the Monday.
A box of thick manuals is heavy. Does that change what next-day delivery costs?
The booklets cost what the product page quotes, however fast they travel. The delivery charge for next working day is calculated at checkout for your address and shown before you pay, so there is no figure to quote here. When there is time to spare, standard delivery to UK mainland addresses is free on orders over £25 (£2.95 below that) and arrives in 3-5 working days.
